One Book, One City for Kids 2012

One Book, One City for Kids is an annual reading program encouraging 4th, 5th & 6th graders to read and discuss the same book each winter. The program also strives to encourage a lifelong love of reading among middle school-age readers, to inspire readers to bring story ideas and themes to life through discussion, and to build collaborative ties between public libraries, school libraries and area schools.

This year the entire city will be reading Along Came Spider by James Preller. In this book, Spider Stevens and Trey Cooper live next to each other, on the odd-numbered side of Maple Street. That seems just about right, because Trey Cooper is a little odd himself. Their whole 5th grade class thinks Trey is weird, but does that mean that Spider has to turn his back on his oldest friend?
